Baxter County Courthouse
Mountain Home, Baxter County

WPA crews built this cut-stone and buff-brick courthouse in Mountain Home between 1941 and 1943. Its plain design, by Fayetteville architect T. Ewing Shelton, reflects the practical style of the time. Inside, the two-story courtroom still has its hickory paneling. How to pay for it caused real arguments in the county.
