Clarendon post office mural
Monroe County

Abraham Tobias painted "They Cleared the Land and Planted Cotton" for Clarendon in 1943: a man felling a tree, cotton pickers, and a mother teaching her children. The war started, the town said it would rather focus on the war effort, and the mural was never installed. No one knows where it is today.
