Mary Purser based her 1939 mural on a county history book. It shows Clarksville around 1840: townspeople rush to meet the Little Rock to Springfield stagecoach as the driver holds up the mail, and the flag by the courthouse has just 25 stars. It is the only Arkansas mural that shows the post office it hangs in.
