Dardanelle post office mural
Dardanelle, Yell County

Ludwig Mactarian couldn't afford to visit Dardanelle, so he worked from New York Public Library photos and letters from the postmaster. His 1939 mural follows cotton from field to world: pickers, a weigh basket, a textile mill and bales loaded onto a ship. It still hangs in the Dardanelle post office.
