Haggard Ford Swinging Bridge
Boone County
This cable suspension bridge with wooden planks and concrete towers crosses Bear Creek at Haggard's Ford, eight miles north of Harrison. WPA crews built it in 1941 on the new Cottonwood Road, one of two swinging bridges the WPA built in Boone County. The ford is named for Nancy Haggard, a widow who settled there in 1889.
