Heber Springs post office mural
Heber Springs, Cleburne County
Louis Freund's 1939 mural shows a pioneer couple on newly cleared land below Sugar Loaf Mountain: the man swings an ax into a pine, oxen wait at the plow, and the woman draws spring water while holding their baby. Washington made him redraw the oxen three times. It now hangs in the Heber Springs Municipal Building.
