Dyess was one of the country's first and largest New Deal farm colonies, and Ray and Carrie Cash moved their family here on March 24, 1935. Arkansas State University now runs the site: the colony's white Administration Building has exhibits on colony life, and the restored Cash family house is nearby on County Road 924. It opened to visitors in 2014.
