Lake Leatherwood Dam and Recreational Facilities
Eureka Springs, Carroll County

Between 1938 and 1940, CCC workers built a dam on West Leatherwood Creek near Eureka Springs, under the Soil Conservation Service. It created a lake for swimming, fishing and boating, and it slowed erosion in the hollow. The CCC also built a wood-frame bathhouse and barbecue pavilion on stone foundations about a mile south of the dam. The land was later deeded to the city of Eureka Springs.
