Lake Village post office mural
Lake Village, Chicot County

Avery Johnson was struck by how much wildlife lived around Lake Chicot, so his 1941 mural "Lake County Wild Life" is full of it: deer, wild turkey, egrets, quail, a raccoon and an opossum in the trees, and fishermen out on the lake. He laid on much of the paint with a palette knife to catch light on the water. It still hangs in the Lake Village post office.
