Petit Jean was Arkansas's first state park, and Mather Lodge is its centerpiece: a 24-room guest lodge that is the only lodge the CCC built in an Arkansas state park. The Cedar Falls Trail starts right behind it. The lodge closed for renovation in 2010, reopened in May 2012, and began another round of renovation in 2025.
