Orville Carroll painted "Early Settlers of Osceola" in 1939: pioneers landing a boat on the Mississippi around 1855, dodging eddies and sunken trees. He found the farms he saw on his visit too miserable to paint and sketched the river in Louisville instead. The mural burned with the post office in 1966. It is the only Arkansas post office mural that no longer exists.
