Paris post office mural
Paris, Logan County

Townspeople rejected Joseph Vorst's first design as stereotyped and backward, so he repainted "Rural Arkansas" in 1940 to show Paris at work: a prize bull, a coal mine, a modern cotton gin and pickers weighing their sacks. It still hangs in the Paris post office.
