Polk County Courthouse
Mena, Polk County

The WPA put $110,000 into this four-story Art Deco courthouse in Mena, finished in 1939 and designed by Haralson & Mott of Fort Smith. It sits at the foot of Rich Mountain and is one of the most impressive buildings in the county. It is the county's fifth courthouse; the first, in the old town of Dallas, was burned during the Civil War.
